Robert A. Hayden, D.C., PhD, F.I.C.C.
The Iris City Chiropractic Center was founded on 23 October 95 by Robert A. Hayden, DC, PhD, FICC. The chiropractic portion of the practice focuses on musculoskeletal conditions and injuries ranging from strains/sprains to disc injuries and beyond. Spinal decompression, various physiotherapies, manual adjustments, extremity work, and treatment of athletic injuries are all part of daily practice.
While primarily a chiropractic Center, the clinic also includes a busy and active occupational health service which provides many employers and drivers with DOT and pre-employment physicals, a full range of drug and alcohol testing, and random drug testing to facilitate compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace initiative of the Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Hayden began work in health care as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist, but also was an Executive Director of a state association, continuing education consultant, and registered lobbyist while in professional nursing. He earned a PhD from the University of Mississippi while enrolled at Life University, from which he graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1995. He specializes in Cox Flexion Distraction/Disc Decompression technique.
Dr. Hayden is an active member of the American Chiropractic Association. He serves as a member of the Media Team, through which he is a spokesman for the Association to television, radio, and printed media.
Dr. Hayden is a past president of the Georgia Chiropractic Association. He was recognized as the 2006-2007 Chiropractor of the Year. He was inducted in 2009 as a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractic, which is the highest international honor the chiropractic profession has to offer. In February, 2012, he was honored with a Presidential Leadership Award by Dr. Keith Overland, President of the American Chiropractic Association, for his work as the ACA Delegate from Georgia. He now serves as national Secretary of the West Hartford Group, a chiropractic “think tank” that is dedicated to the advancement of evidence-based chiropractic practice.
He serves locally as President of the Griffin Daybreak Rotary Club and is Vice-Chair of the Board of the Griffin Area Resource Center (GARC). He is a founding partner of the Academy of Georgia Chiropractors, LLC. One of his most pleasurable activities is serving as a guitarist in the praise band at First Baptist Church of Griffin.
Tomika Faulkner, Certified Medical Assistant
Tomika Faulkner is a Certified Medical Assistant (graduate of Georgia Medical Institute) who brings a strong, varied work experience with her from family medicine to health information/medical records. She combines strong clinical and technical skill and a sense of humor. She will always find a way to get patients into the clinic as soon as possible, usually same day, and usually immediately when they are in need. Most of the time when you call us, it will be her friendly voice who greets you.
Ashley Swilley, Chiropractic Assistant
Ashley Swilley, CMA join us on staff in September, 2019. She was certified as a Medical Assistant in 2013. She brings 16 years of experience in the medical field, including internal medicine, endocrine (thyroid/diabetes), and direct in-home patient care. She has two children and two horses. When not working, she might be found riding a horse, supporting her son at a Lacrosse event, or cheering for the Florida Gators (oh, well...).
Lauren Priester, Intern
Lauren Priester is one of my former students from Gordon State. She is an eager and gifted student who masters everything put before her. She is now at Georgia State University in nursing school (with two scholarships!), headed for a specialty in OB-GYN. Lauren now interns with us in her spare time between semesters, so you may see her in patient care or drug screens. Lauren is a great student, and an even better person. We are very proud of her and her accomplishments.
